In April I quit my day job as a Child and Family Counselor to work on self-publishing romance novels full-time. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and to tell the truth, most times I still don't.
Since that time I have published 4 books, put out 2 short stories and kept up with a weekly journal from the perspective of one of my characters that currently has 25 entries. There is also 1 book that is waiting with baited breath to be out on the market for you and 2 other manuscripts ready to start the editing processes. The year of 2014 clocks me at somewhere in the 320,000-340,000 words written range. That's just unreal as far as I'm concerned.
I only hope I can keep the momentum up for 2015. I have more months to work this year, so I should be able to do even more!...Maybe...
At any rate, I never would have been able to do any of it without the support of the people who love me. My significant other who still works and allows me to live this dream which brings home basically no bacon, figuratively or otherwise, my mother who helps edit for no bacon figuratively or otherwise, my best friend whose fantastic art graces the covers of all my works, and to the beautiful authors and friends I have met along the way. I'm going to mention a few by name who have really really done a lot for me in the past several months.
Jordan L. Hawk - you are always there for me when I have questions or I need to vent about something that's gone wrong. You have no idea how much you inspire and help me get words out when I think they've failed me.
J.P. Barnaby - You are so sweet and approachable. You also never fail to help me when I need it. The way you push envelops has really helped me dig deep and start telling the stories that I want to tell. When I'm worried that something isn't going to sell because it's not PC or not 'pretty' I think to myself 'what would JP do?' and I keep on writing.
Paula Coots - I will always consider you a friend. Your book helped me really think about some sticky topics and gave me inspiration. I can keep pumping things out because of help from you.
Jacqueline M. Rhoades - You were the entire reason I got up the courage to slap a manuscript down on paper. You told me to just go for it, and I went for it. Thank you.
and to the most fantastic BETA reader Kym Durham - Your thoughts have really helped to make my works better. Thank you so so so much. I consider you invaluable.
I know I'm not the best author in the world, but everyone helps to build me up and make me better. I am over-joyed to look at reviews and ratings and see that over-all my books are clocking a solid 3.5 or better. Those that have read my stuff seem to all agree that I create memorable worlds, with memorable characters that really stick with a reader. I have no where to go but up, so for those handful of fans that I have...please continue to hang with me and I'll continue to hang with you.
Here's to a memorable 2015 with all of you!
